Catalan Countries Championship (Paďsos Catalans). KO Competition!
This is a knock-out competition. It works as
follows!
First round: 16 competitors
Second round: 8 competitors
Third round: 4 competitors
A dance will be done for the 3rd and 4th place. It will be followed by the big
finals! (male and female)
A maximum of 8 competitors are allowed to be at the dance floor at the same
time, but each competitor will be marked against the other dancer they have been
allocated to.

The Girona-Costa Brava line dance Festival wil take place September 11th to Sep. 14th, in the cities of Palafrugell and Sant Juliŕ de Ramis. ALready confirmed is the presence of Gaye Teather, choreographer of popular dances as Chirpy Charleston, DHSS, Do Wop Be Doo Be Doo, Kill The Spiders, Lila Flamenco, X-Plosive among many others)
Palafrugell, located at 40 km from Girona and 35 km from the Girona airport, will have the open-air presentation & welcome party Thursday 11th (national day of Catalonia). There will be dancing also Friday the 12th, at the Fraternal Center (wonderful place for dancing), with new dances from the invited instructors. Palafrugell is just 2 km from the beach.
Sant Juliŕ de Ramis is located 3 km away from the city of
Girona, and about 20 km from the airport (so close thru the highway AP7). It has
various hotels very close (a short 100 meters walk) to the venue. We will have
workshops saturday morning, competition and dancing thru the afternoon and
everning, and a big party to end the championship (saturday the 13th)
Sunday we will have more workshops and dancing thru the afternoon. There's a bus
stop close to the venue and non-dancers (or even dancers) can take it to visit
the incredible, rich, historic and wonderful city of Girona.
We will have international and national instructors that will be announced very
soon. Also hotels available will be announced here soon.
Let us know if you need transfers from the airport to the hotels. We recommend
you to stay at Sant Juliŕ and we'll try to organize a bus to Palafrugell if you
want to participate in our earlier activities. Ticket to dancing will be cheap:
3 € or free (depending the final venue) for Thursday
4 € for Friday
5 € for Saturday
3 € for Sunday

1. Competitors
This Championship is Open. Everybody can compete, it doens't matter from which country you are. We will have three cups in each category.
2. Division newcomer
In this division (country and pop) there's no restriction
regarding costume or dancing style. Dancers may choose to wear what they like
with in reason.
No variations are allowed to dancers in this division.
3. Variations
All categories should dance the first two walls vanilla patterns, exactly how it is indicated in the step sheet. After completion of this two walls competitors can add as many and as little variations as they wish, within the line of dance. Thru the dance you may dance with style and move your arms and hands to cpliment the dance movements, but thry should look natural. Dancers that choose to move their hands and arms should not compromise on the footwork.
5. Style
In the country music competition, you can dance with hands in your belt or pockets, but it will be not admited in the Absolut and the newline competitions. The Major Adjudicator can delete points if any competitor does it, maximum 1.5 points per dance.
6. Dance Floor
Dance floor is so big, so please when dancing or doing
variations, follow the dance line.N dancer should intrude on anyone else's dance
space. The Major Adjudicator can delete points if any competitor does it,
maximum 1.5 points per dance.
No kicks above waist height are allowed. No hands touching the floor. No splits.
7. Clothes
A- Dances with country music. Dancers should wear western
style clothing. A shirt, leotard or blouse with jeans, trousers or skirt.
Outfits should be decorated in western style or have a yoke on them. Cowboy Hat
and boots are compulsory, except for the newcomer category. Cowboy hat is
optional to female competitors. Dancing boots are allowed.
B- Newline (Pop). Dancers may choose to wear what they like with in reason.
Cowboy Hats are optional.Footwear is of your own choice. Bare foot is not
allowed.
8. Divisions
Division 4: Newcomer
Infantil: 0 to 9 years old
Júnior: 10 to 14.
Youth: De 15 to 18.
Open: More than 16 and no limit.
Crystal: More than 30
Silver: More than 45
Gold: More than 55
Platinum: More than 70.
Division 3 Novice:
Júnior: 0-13
Júnior Teen: 0-17
Open: 16+
Crystal: 30+
Silver: 45+
Division 2 Intermediate:
Júnior: 0-13
Teenage: Age 14-17
Open: Age 16+
Division 1 Absolute: Open to any dancer. You can compete in this category and
any other of your choice.
Open +15
Prizes for this division:
1st Male and Female: 150 €
2nd male and female: 100 €
3rd male and female: 75 €
* Male and female competitors may dance together at the same time, but they will
only compete against those of the same division and age..
* Competitors can compete in one or more of the dances for their divisions.
However, in those that they don't dance, the points for classification will be 0.
* An entry to the dances will be offered. 5-6-7-8 (in catalan). For waltz, it will be 4-5-6.
Rules for teams, duos, couples and quads:
Teams: Categories by musical format: Country & Newline. Teams will provide their own music on CD (2 copies), and by e-mail ballscountry@europeancma.com before the competition. 75% of the music should be country for the country competition (accepted by organization). Newline Teams can use any music they wish.
Just one
choreography, original or not. Teams will be divided by ages and number of
members:
Junior (Team Age Average of less 16 anys) - Sčnior (more than 16 anys of
average)
Small Team (Teams with de 3, 4 or 5 dancers)
Large Team (More than 5 dancers and maximum of 12).
Teams music should be maximum 7 minutes long. Music can be just one song or a
mix.
Duos:
Two people (male, female or mix). Country & Newline. All duos will compete at
the same time. Music given by organization:

There are two hotels recommended by the organization. Both are 50 meters from the competition hall. However, there's plenty of hotels in the Girona City (and sorrounding city of Sarriŕ de Ter) for every pocket and at a reasonable cost to and from the competition hall. Cost of taxi from the airport of Girona-Costa Brava is about 17 € (up to 4 people). Taxis from Girona city or Sarriŕ to Sant Juliŕ (competition hall) is about 10-15 € (there's are taxis up to 7 places). Info: 34-972-222 323 / 34-972-203377; Giro-taxi: 34-972-221-020.
